Release Notes 2025 | Informit Search

Release notes for the Informit Search site.

Minor Release 27/05

Features, improvements, and updates

1. Greater priority given to journals, TV shows, books, and conferences in search auto-complete

The search auto-complete bar which drops down as users enter search terms to suggest Informit records has been updated to more frequently suggest title level records (i.e. journals, TV shows, conferences, books, etc). Typically, the top search result will now be reserved for title level records to support discovery.

2. Explore topics more likely to appear in search auto-complete and in search results

For Explore users, relevant Explore topic pages are now more likely to surface in both the search auto-complete and the general search results page.

Users who do not subscribe to Explore will not see this content.

Bug Fixes

  • Records which have been indexed to our Explore product were, when selected from the search auto-complete drop down, redirecting to the Explore topic rather than the record itself. This has now been resolved.

Minor Release 18/02

Features, improvements, and updates

1. Display of Journal linked journals

The language used to connect linked journals via hyperlinks in the title header has been refined to better reflect the relationship between those journals. The terminology now in use is as follows:

Splits into / Split from: Journal A, B, and C exist as separate publications. Journal A splits and is absorbed in part by B and C. Journal A ceases to exist.

Continued in part by: Part of Journal A separates to form Journal B, which is a spin-off from Journal A. Journal A continues as before

Supplements / supplemented by: Journal B supplements Journal A.

Absorbs / is Absorbed by: Journal B absorbs Journal A. Journal A ceases to exist. Journal B maintains its title. Both journals must exist independently before Journal B absorbs Journal A.

Union of: Journal A and Journal B are merged to form Journal C. Both Journal A and Journal B cease to exist after the merge. It is also possible for three or more journals to merge.

2. 'Show more' button added to series / episodes widget

For series which have a high volume of content (5+ episodes per series), upon load of the series page the first 5x results will display initially with the option to load more episodes under that series using the new 'show more' button.

By reducing the number of results initially loaded, the page load speed for high volume series record pages has been dramatically improved.

Bug Fixes

  • On the search page, the 'Order by' filter was mislabelled to 'sort' and presented in the incorrect style for the site. This has been reverted.
