Informit Explore | Product Updates for Informit Explore: August 2025

This document outlines the latest updates, features, and improvements made to Informit Explore, as well as upcoming enhancements to look out for.

New subject areas now live

Two major subject areas—Media and Popular Culture and The Arts—have officially launched on Explore. These subject hubs bring together curated topics spanning English, visual arts, media studies, drama and music, providing teachers and students with rich, curriculum-aligned pathways into contemporary issues and creative practice.

Indigenous Education and Indigenous Knowledges

Two new cornerstone topics have been added to the Indigenous Studies subject area: Indigenous Education and Indigenous Knowledges, with more to come. These pages provide valuable resources and perspectives that connect classrooms with First Peoples’ voices, scholarship, and lived experiences.

Additionally, in May, Explore hosted a webinar on Indigenous Studies Across the Curriculum with Melissa Serrurier, an Indigenous educator and researcher who contributed to the development of these pages. The recording can be found here.

Expanded topic coverage for New Zealand

To support schools and libraries in Aotearoa New Zealand, Explore now includes 13 new topics focused on the region. These cover:

  • The New Zealand legal and health systems
  • History and society, including Māori perspectives
  • Biodiversity and environmental conservation, including a focus on Australia too

These pages ensure Explore offers stronger regional representation and curriculum relevance for both Australian and New Zealand contexts.

Explore Media Development

Explore Media is still in development, including ongoing work on license customisation and configuration for schools, curated media collections focusing on curriculum aligned categories and themes, and interactive screen guides.

Coming Soon

  • Religion, Science and Education subject areas.
  • Enhanced features Explore Media features.
  • Religion Across the Curriculum webinar with Peter Sherlock from Charles Sturt University, scheduled for 15 September.
