Informit Explore | Product Updates for Informit Explore: May 2024

This document provides a detailed record of the updates, features, and improvements made to Informit Explore.

These changes are based on user feedback and are designed to enhance the overall user experience.

Below are some significant updates from this year, along with some minor changes that may affect your experience of Explore.

Redesigned login page and access

The login process has been redesigned for a smoother, more intuitive user experience. When any user times out of using Explore, they will now be automatically redirected to the login page, so that they know they need to login again to access the full range of content available on Explore.

Additionally, you can now access a bespoke trial login page, available at the bottom of the standard login page. The new layout offers a streamlined interface, making it quicker and easier for different user types to login and start searching.

Updated curriculum language

Curriculum language across Informit Explore has been reviewed and updated to align with version 9 of the Australian Curriculum. This ensures that the content is relevant and up to date, supporting effective teaching and research.

EduTV Select

EduTV Select provides access to a curated selection of curriculum-aligned media programs available on broadcast networks in Australia and mapped to Explore’s subject categories. These high-quality educational videos have been handpicked by our Media Curator and are designed to enrich your Explore experience. Please note, a full selection of educational videos will be available later this year as part of an ‘Explore Media’ pilot program.

EduTV Select media is available on every subject page under the ‘Featured Video’ menu.

"See More Articles/Videos" Buttons

See More Articles: A "See More Articles" button has been added to the base of all Featured Articles tabs under Explore Issues. This button links to an Informit Search, presenting additional relevant results within the selected Issue category.

See More Videos: A "See More Videos" button has been added to the base of Featured Videos tabs under Explore Issues. Clicking this button will lead to Informit Search, providing more video content related to the selected Issue.

Sticky navigation bar

The navigation bar on Explore Issue pages is now sticky, meaning it remains pinned to the top of the page as you scroll. This update improves accessibility to key navigation options.

Updated search icon

The "Search on Informit" icon has been updated across all Explore Issue pages. The new icon features a magnifying glass, replacing the previous ‘new page’ symbol, for a clearer representation of the search function.

Enhanced share options for issue pages

The sharing options under the share button for issue pages have been expanded. Users can now share via:

  • Twitter
  • Facebook
  • LinkedIn

Centered landing page banner image

The image within the landing page carousel banner has been vertically centered, creating a more polished and visually balanced appearance.

Removal of red outer highlight from subject/issue selections

We’ve refined Explore’s user interface by removing the red boxed highlight that previously appeared upon selecting subjects or issues on all Explore pages. This change results in a cleaner, more streamlined look.

We are committed to continuous improvement and will continue to introduce enhancements based on user feedback. Please refer to the Knowledge Base for future updates and detailed release notes. Your feedback is essential in helping us make Informit Explore the best it can be.
