Database Improvements | Update April 2025

Improving databases by removing record duplication.

As part of our ongoing commitment to simplify and improve the Informit experience,
enhancements to Informit databases will be implemented from April 2025. Users conducting systematic queries may notice changes in their result sets due to these updates.

Key Updates

  1. Removal of identical duplicate Records
    • Duplicate records from full-text databases, primarily for publications indexed since 2012, will be removed.
    • This only effects records created prior 2020.
  2. Consolidating Full text databases
    • Older index-only records (pre-2005), created for the APAIS database by the National Library of Australia, will only be accessible from the APAIS archive database.
    • This will significantly improve the full-text search experience.
    • Users will now need to actively select the APAIS archive to search these pre-2005 Index only records.
    • Affected records predominantly do not feature abstract fields.

What to Expect

  • Potential changes in search result volume
  • Reduced search result clutter
  • Improved Full-text search experience
  • Further improvements in de-duplication are planned for 2025, and we will keep you informed about additional updates.
